| 802.11n
It's taken 7 years but the IEEE 802.11 Working Group has
finally ratified the 802.11n Wireless LAN standard. What does this mean for you?802.11n provides an upgrade to the existing 802.11a/g standards in just about every area of operation, giving more reliable communications with faster overall throughput. With faster and more reliable connections reliance on the traditional wired network is now even less relevant. The performance increases also make it simpler to implement advanced technolgies over Wireless LAN such as Voice over IP and Video using the Wireless LAN infrastructure. What next?Uptake of 802.11n is now expected to increase markedly
given the support of a ratified standard. We expect the price premium that
currently exists between 802.11a/b/g and 802.11n Access Points to fall rapidly as
802.11n becomes the standard offering. Indeed Aruba Networks have already begun this process by launching the aggressively priced AP105 with Cisco having the AP1142. Expect the other manufacturers to follow suit. If you would like assistance in designing, deploying and supporting an 802.11n network please speak to one of our highly skilled Technical Architects.
