Ensign brings barcode technology to Bournemouth University Business students

Undergraduate Business students at Bournemouth University put their academic theory into practice in a real life scenario assessment, representing the work they could be involved in during their placement year or future careers. Using barcode scanners from Ensign students created membership cards with barcodes for easy member registration to a fictitious sports club.

Ensign has been a Bournemouth University placement partner for many years due to our prestige in the network and barcode industry.

Simon Peacock, UK Account Manager of Ensign, spoke about the longstanding relationship with the Business School and how pleased Ensign was to help in this demonstration of the practical aspects of students' academic work.

Karen Thompson, Unit Leader, and Peter Merchant, Course Leader, were very pleased with the added dimension of this exercise.  Commenting about the use of bar code scanning in their assignments, one student said, 'It makes the scenario realistic. Barcode scanners are everywhere out in the world.  It's terrific.'
